Haiku: Currant Flowers

Do you like spicy aromas with some sweet, almost vanilla notes? And definite clove? Then you must stop and smell a clove currant blossom!

After being dormant all winter, my currant bush has come back to life: green growth abounds, and more flowers have already appeared than I saw last year. This spring, it’s flourishing.

Previously, just two currants were produced. Based on the blooms, it looks like there will be at least several this year – and, someday, there may be enough to harvest. Until then, though, I’ll appreciate the currant’s blossoms as a very special olfactory (and visual) treat!
