Haiku: Hidden Gems

As I was hand-harvesting pasture greens for the pigs, an unexpected vignette was revealed: under the long, damp strands of grass lay the uniquely beautiful blue of a discarded robin’s egg. What a lovely surprise!

The robin population seems very healthy here this year – so many young robins flitting about, pulling worms from the ground and sparring with other robins. Further support for this comes in the form of an unusual number of blue eggshells we’ve been finding. Look around – maybe you’ll find some, too.
