So many flowers, so little time – blooms of all sizes, colors, and fragrances, and I’d like to capture them all. As I picked wild blackberries, I stopped to smell the flowers and enjoy their cheeriness. They’re hard to ignore, aren’t they?

Growing Things: Lychee (From Seeds)
Ever since I grew avocado and mango plants from seed, I’ve been hooked on it. I have a pile of other seeds, including lemon, grapefruit, jalapeño, and habanero that I’ll be trying to sprout, too. My most recent attempt was with lychee seeds, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that some actually did germinate!

It started with the green onions, and now the growing bug has expanded to include the avocado pits and mango seeds. Why, you ask, when fruit is unlikely (or, if at all, very far off in the future)? Because they’re living plants, absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen!

Spring is the time of growth and renewal, as evidenced by the transformation of the farm landscape from austerity to verdancy. I’d read over the winter that it was easy to regrow a number of different common vegetables, so after I used green onions in kimchi, I decided to try my hand at regrowing the (root) ends that I’d cut off. Based on the green I see, it looks like it really does work!
