Peripatetic philomaths…focusing on what's really important, eating ethically and cleanly, fermenting, foraging/wildcrafting, practicing herbalism, and being responsible stewards of our land. Sharing our photos, musings, and learnings. Still seeking our tribe.
What’s that divine perfume wafting through the humid summer air? It’s honeysuckle, a wild-growing vine here that’s climbed enthusiastically all over the field fencing. Unpopular with some gardeners because it’s highly invasive, it’s a wildcrafter’s delight: the blooms make a heady wine, an aromatic syrup, and fantastic facial oil!
I love learning new skills and gaining knowledge that I can add to my personal repository. Right now, I’m learning about the practice of Aromatherapy, with a focus on animal applications. Aromatherapy is a healing art that involves the use of powerful substances distilled from plants (often, flowers) called “essential oils”. It’s much more than just nicely-scented candles!
Delightful DOMS…Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness is what you may experience when you begin working out again or just generally overexert yourself. It usually takes 2-3 days to reach “peak” soreness, and as you get older, it seems like it takes longer for your muscles to recover. So what do you do? Break out the BENGAY®? Nope – make your own herbal salve for those aches and pains, instead!
I stopped using toothpaste, including “natural” brands, several years ago, and haven’t looked back. My mouth no longer burns after brushing (and it wasn’t a “good” burn, either) and my teeth have never felt cleaner!
