One of our Halloween traditions is pumpkin-carving, but the last couple of years saw us digging deep to find the desire to do it. Last year, in fact, we didn’t carve any. This year, though, we realized that it doesn’t feel much like Halloween without some jack o’ lanterns…so carve we did.

No Food Waste: (Meatless) Italian Sausage And Cauliflower Leaf Pasta

I hate food waste. It’s a big problem in many places, with far-reaching impacts. It’s also deeply troubling that as much as an estimated 40% of food here is wasted when, at the same time, so many people are food insecure. Let’s see what we can do to minimize and/or avoid wasting these precious resources…and make some tasty meals!

No Waste: Recycled Wine Bottles

Hmm…looks like it might be time to build a wine rack!

I’ve been reusing my own private stash of wine bottles (alas, I recycled many before I thought to save them for my own wines!), but I finally got down to the last few and realized I had quite a bit more wine to bottle. Checking Craigslist, I found a few listings for cases of wine bottles for sale, but – even better – also found a local winery offering cases of empty (used) bottles for free!
